Additional Tips

  • Never wash more than 24 diapers at a time
  • Wash your diapers every 1-2 days, never let soiled diapers sit longer than 3 days
  • Use the largest load setting to ensure clean diapers
  • Exclusively breast fed (EBF) baby diapers require no extra rinsing, they will get rinsed during the cold wash cycle
  • If your baby develops a rash you may use a rash cream as long as you put a barrier between your child and the diaper, such as a wash cloth or a flushable liner.

How many diapers do I need?

The average newborn may go through up to 12 diapers in one day. As your baby grows this number will decrease to
somewhere between 4 and 8 diapers a day. You may choose to wash every day or every 2-3 days. Usually 24 diapers are considered a full set and should allow you to wash every other day.

You should not need more cloth diapers in one day than disposables. If you're already using disposables, figure how many diapers you use in one day, multiply that number by how many days you would like to go between washing and this will tell you how many diapers you should purchase.
